How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome So You Can Grow Your Business Efficiently

Have you ever felt like you do not have the energy nor the enthusiasm to grow your business solely by paying attention to what other coaches and consultants in your industry are doing?

Every time deep within you that you struggle to find your authenticity as a coach or consultant, it is proof that you are fighting the demons of imposter syndrome.

Even the best of individuals in various endeavours be it in business, sports or artistry, at one point or another, they fight the same demons of imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is a psychological term first used by Suzanna Imes and Pauline Rose Clance in the 1970s that refers to an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be.

In the very essence of what it’s worth, your business cannot experience significant growth when you are not constantly in the right frame of belief of what you are about, what your business is about and why you are the person well suited to help others overcome or accomplish what your business is about.

That right there is how to effectively structure your business for scale, by first eliminating the negative force of imposter syndrome that plagues many business owners, coaches and consultants.

This is why technology and other tools, though important, are not the most important measures to focus on in an attempt to structure your business for scale in impact and profit. Your business and life vision is really the foundation that sets everything else in its rightful place.

So the question then becomes, what steps can you take to overcome imposter syndrome so you are able to ensure you lead your business to grow in impact and profit? Here are three steps you can take starting today:

  1. Be clear on your life’s vision: When you consider the long term involvement and commitment your business will require of you, it is a tiring and deeply frustrating process to separate your business life from your actual life. There has to be a bridge that connects what is meaningful to you as a person and what your business is actually about.
  2. Be clear on your business vision: Putting pieces of a puzzle together will be an effort to no end with results of emptiness, no meaning and confusion if there is no big picture you have in mind when putting the puzzle pieces together. It is the same with your business. If you are not clear about your business vision, you will invest time, effort and resources going after the wrong things, measuring the wrong metrics and trying to accomplish the wrong goals that do not align with your desired outcomes. So, what is your business vision?
  3. Set time aside weekly or at least twice a month to ponder on your life and business vision. This is very important because when you lose touch with your ‘why’, the essence of what gives you meaning and how it empowers you to succeed in business, you will struggle to grow your business in significant ways.

Remember, to structure your business for scale in impact and profit, it does not start with tools or technology, rather, it starts with you.
