Knowing the unknown

Bestselling author Richard Paul Evans is fond of sharing the Chinese aphorism, “When the student is reader, the teacher will appear.”

Calling oneself a student is seemingly to some a derogatory statement but in its true essence, it is the very word that validates our experience as humans because we are always learning.

As in life, so in leadership, being at the highest rung of any leadership ladder does not eliminate the reality that there is something yet unknown that needs to be known and we will only make that discovery as individuals and leaders when we at a mind and heart level accept that we are students to the yet unknown.
